Mostly OT: Favorite after ride brew?

cold and sweaty when I ride, I've really been enjoying both Shiner Bock
and Alaskan Summer Ale. Full Sail Brewing has a beer called Session
that goes down real easy, too.

There's a lot of "if's" here:

- if it was really hot out: Red Stripe/Moosehead

- if it was moderately hot out, but I got hot riding: Corona

- if I felt particularly well-heeled that week; Chimay [1]

- if it's all that there is in the house: anything

- if I feel like a sandwich, but choose a beer instead: a Hefeweizen
w/a slice of lemon

Anything from Dogfish Head Brewery in Delaware. http://www.dogfish.com/

If you like bitter the 90 Minute IPA is good. Their Indian Brown Ale is a
favorite of mine. And the Mida's touch (a 2600 year old recipe) is the
elixr of kings.

Session is good beer! It's like a Coors on speed. I was kind of bummed
that they chose to put it in 11oz bottles though. 🙂 Rip ya off an
ounce.
I like the Bock also, haven't tried the Alaskan yet - I'll add it to my
list. Thanks.

This is when I love living in Portland. Sunny weather, and a
McMenamins or some other brew pub on every corner that is not occupied
by a Starbucks. Spring skiing, too. Helps me feel better about the
months of drear.

Great beers (not necessarily in order of greatness): (1) Deschutes
Brewery Mirror Pond Ale or Black Butte Porter (recovery beer), (2)
Rogue Ales Dead Guy Ale -- fantastic out of the tap, only great in a
bottle, (3) Fat Tire Ale -- not from Portland, but a good OTC session
beer, and not just because of the bicycle motiff. For a hoppy beer,
the Bridgeport IPA is good (another Portland brewery). My all time
favorite is Dead Guy Ale on tap. Hammerhead is good, too, but like you
say, you have to go to a McMenamins to get it. That is a mile or so
ride for me, but farther for others on this NG. -- Jay Beattie.

When I drank, I preferred Liberty Ale from Anchor Brewing. I've given it
up as empty calories, but if I were out and someone offered me a Liberty....

Well, at least it's a 5% ABV beer. And they throw in the bottlecap
version of rock-paper-scissors at no extra charge.

If i understand correctly, the 11 oz. bottle size is due to Full Sail
using bottle-making equipment formerly employed for the now-departed
Olympia stubbies.

My favorite after-ride brew is a mix of Assam and Imperial Gunpowder,
but then I've always been considered something of a Philistine when it
comes to tea.

Brooke Bond Red Label with a dollop of half-and-half is my hands-down
favorite _pre-ride_ brew.

Nice call on the Dogfish Head Ales.

I'm lucky in that the local watering hole has the 60 Minute on tap and
that the high-end brew store stocks the 90 min.
If you're only having one or two, any of the Double IPAs from that part
of the country are okay with me - Stoudt's Double IPA, Victory Hop
Wallop. If you're in a west coast mood, anything from Stone Brewery
(Ruination Ale) or Lagunitas (Maximus) hit you with more than enough
hoppy goodness.

Just make sure you have enough water beforehand, and some with it.

definitely _not_ one of them...

Hoegarden(sp?) is good stuff. More available are Honey Brown, Killians
Irish Red and of course the standby Heine.

Depending on the temperature (all are Wisconsin breweries):

Cool weather: Sprecher Black Bavarian Kulmbacher style ale (we call it
Black Barbarian), it's crunchy, it's chewy, and oh so satisfying!

Moderate weather: Capital Brewery MaiBock (yummm!) or New Glarus UffDa
Bock or Tyranena Altbier

Hot weather: Any good nut brown ale (Tyranena or New Glarus Fat
Squirrel) or Pilsener
