  1. On my commute there is a blind bend. Just the other side of the blind bend is a blind crest. There
are double white lines down teh middle of teh road (obviously, given two sequential obstructions to
    visibility).

As I came round the blind bend, I couldn't work out the lights coming towards me for a moment or
two. Then it became obvious. Two cars were coming over the blind crest side-by-side, one zombie
pillock occupying most of my side of teh road. He couldn't easily pull back to his side of teh road
because he was actually overtaking two cars (the one behind tailgating teh one in front far too
    close for comfort).

Luckily I was wearing my helmet, so am still alive to tell you about it (ho ho). Of course, teh fact
that of the four vehicles involved, I was awake and took evasive action may have contributed to my
survival. Had I been slightly less alert, I'm fairly confident I'd be dead, since car was not moving
slowly, and was still entirely on my side of teh white line as he passed me. Had I been a car, I
suspect he/she and I would both be dead.

Do these people actually have any sort of brain? It is utterly beyond my comprehension that anyone
could even conmtemplate overtakinmg just there.

Anyway, it was a little nerve-wracking, but luckily I am not contributing to BHITs misinformation
    campaign on this occasion.

    regards, Ian SMith

Yes they do, but it's one that is not high up on the evolutionary scale. I do believe it ranks well
below that of a retarded amoeba.

    Glad you weren't hurt.

I think some cars have a special jar for the driver to decant their brain into before they
    drive off...

Sounds like a horrible experience. Glad you survived to tell us about it.

Gaaah! I can picture it exactly.

It's life, Jim, but not as we know it.

What did you do? Go up the bank?

Oh - CUT OFF THEIR GOOLIES!

Amoeba probably is right. It works on one simple rule: Stimulus (car in front) - Response (overtake)

When I went past today, I noticed taht as well as the crest and teh bend, moron motorist was doing
this manouver past a 'road narrows' sign. However, as it turns out, two cars and a trice fit across
    that bit of road.

At whatever our closing speed was, however (80mph? - I was contributing just short of 20mph, I doubt
he'd have got round teh bend much above 60mph (it's blind because of dense trees & tall fences on
either side, but it is a bend rather than a corner)) it's not something I'd care to demonstrate
again, and I'm not sure it would work much up or down the road. To be honest I don't even really
know how much gap there was - with teh speed it all happened I wasn't checking clearances - it felt
    rather tighter than bloody close.

One of those 'what if I'd been half a second earlier' type incidents. Anyway, this evening was a
really pleasant ride home - a lovely mild night, and I took it easy just pootling along.

New underpants required, I suspect. Far too close for comfort. I have but the two wheels: on the one
occasion something simlar happened to me I was quite glad, as I was able to arrange that I landed on
the nice soft green bit by the side of the road.

88% of helmet statistics are made up, 65% of them at the University of Washington.

No, but fortunately the cars do. It's the electronic gizmo that runs the fuel injection, whilst the
drivers leave theirs in the glove compartment.
