    Your thoughts?

I think that was a prize-winning shaggy dog. My old Dad would be proud
    of one like that!

    Donga

Thanks. Any credits go to the glass of Margaret River red I had with
    dinner.

    Cheers

Hmmmm My thoughts on obscure twitchiness? Hmmm I own a TCR 🙂
might just have been a patch of damp but check that you can't distort
the rim with your hands = loose spokes

    Dave

Yes, I checked and the spokes are not all perfect, but I couldn't distort
the rims. Perhaps I've managed to convert my commuter into a TCR?

Now I think it was largely my own doing, through being in the wrong gear.

    Cheers,

    Vince

Your suggestion about the chain moving more than it should was
practically the same as the effect I noticed this morning when I tried
standing on the pedals in a lower gear than normal. That did it.

Oh, just thought of another possibility. You mentioned it was quite cold
    - was it also a bit damp? A patch of water, or oil, could cause a rear
wheel slip. That really stuffs your balance.

Yeah. Dave mentioned that as a possibility as well. You guys might be right,
too, since in the short time that it happened it would be difficult to tell
why there was no pedal pressure. I didn't hear any swooshing noises from a
slipping tyre, but I was probably a bit distracted at the time. :-)

Hmmmm Why? 🙂 I love my TCR but I wouldnt buy another. THe new ones
    are much better.

With two wheels their are essentially 2 sorts of oops. There is "Damm
that was close, what happened" where you somehow cought it, often with
skill, sometimes with luck and sometimes it was just a near oops and the
bike would have got out of it by itself, and there is "[censored] where did
the bike go" The ones where you fight it for a hundred meters and then
save or lose it are pretty rare (if you exclude desperate braking
efforts) I have had 2 of these.. a very scary tank slapper sort of
thing downhill on the MAD ride. (Myst throw away those nicks) and one
where I got sideswiped in a bunch at 35 kbh.. he blew a tire and I
crashed heavily at about 25 after a hundred meters of trying.

I had a lot more of those on motorised 2 wheels actually. I had a VF500
honda at one point, a two wheeled missile with now that I think about it
a more than passing resemblence to the TCR in handlng. I was much
younger and faster. Tank slappers a weekly event and front wheel slides
in corners a daily effort. Someone I think Zeebee said she thought
motorcyclists made faster cornering cyclists. Me I just cannot believe
that a half inch of rubber is going to work ( and everytime I do I turn
out to be wrong) so I think I go the opposite way. Stealth Kat the
current motorised bicycle thingy is the most stable in a straight line
motorcycle I have ever owned and I may keep it forever. I shall go the
same way when I update the TCR, so its probabaly back to trek for me

We've a new nutter in town, or possibly a couple of them (I haven't
beothered to check the NNTP details, don't care that much) who's
crapping on about conspiracies etc, and seems very confused about the
difference between a zionist and a nazi (quite startling, really, as
they're about as divergant as it's possible to be and yet be in the
    same species).

Run with it, it's kinda entertaining 🙂

    Hi,

lurched and wobbled. In the microseconds of it happening I thought
something like "that's not right, let's do it again.." and the following
split second attempts made me feel "Aaargh... I'm clipped in and losing
    balance...".

Outside stuff other than spkes and ear infections/blood pressure/heart
    problems[1].

    1) you don't have quick release and your nuts on one side are loose.
    2) broken axle (if rear lugs have to be spread to insert rear wheel.
    3) funnies in cones and bearings, and
    4) your sole of your boots flexed and the pressure went on the rear side
of your pedal stressing the cleats/clip. I'm a toe clip guy and wondered
why I was having trouble with a certain street shoe felling like it was
going to fall out. Finally noticed that the sole is curved up and the
toe and is not flat. If shoe isn't inserted fully, so easly to suddenly
feel like slipping out and I've done this once one honking session.

    Good luck.

Damn, beaten to it. But yes, particularly so when you get out of the saddle I'd imagine. Snug fitting knicks would probably help.

BTW - could a.ber's desist in feeding the trolling giant killer squid?

It's lame & you're only trying to converse with a spam bot. Anyway, it's noisy enough this Friday arvo & some of us are actually attempting to get work finished. 🙄

Agreed. I'm more guilty of this than most, and I promise to banish him
    to by kill file.

Is there any way to block these [censored] from Google Groups? Or should I
    move to another platform?
If you can find him and give his address to the Fatwah/Mossad, please
    do.

    Thanks.

And one last one - how's your frame looking around the bottom bracket?

Or it could have been a killer giant squid grabbing your wheel.

Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different
than riding a bicycle just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the
    spokes.

It's not the giant squid I'm paranoid about: it's the tsunami bringing the
blighter 2 km inland. No one warned me about losing balance from the tidal
    surges.

I read somewhere that the combined mass of squid weighs more than the combined mass of the entire human race. Might be complete [censored] too, though it is pleasant to know at least one species is fighting (or breeding a lot) against total human control of the planet.

    Squid time: 6.30pm tonight. Yum.
