I looked at two of them yesterday, and one was like the people who responded
to my last question about food mills described. It was $40. and similar to
a stainless steel bowl, with a screen in the bottom and a handle that when
turned, caused a blade to rotate, crushing and separating the food from the
seeds and peels. It came with only one size screen, which was too large to
remove berry seeds.
The second resembled a meat grinder, in that it was mounted on 3 legs, you
poked the food in from the top into an augur assembly that forced it through
a cone shaped screen. The good stuff came out from the bottom into a bowl,
the seeds and peels came out the end into another bowl. This Foley unit was
about $65 after buying the extra screen cone to remove berry seeds and was
mostly stainless steel, except for the plastic bowl.
Have any of you any experience with the second one? Is it any better or
worse than the first one I described here? Should I keep looking till I
find one like the first one described here only with 3 straining
attachments?
Thanks for your help in advance.
