Apparently doping in cycling started after Armstrong left. What a lying sack.

What on earth does he mean "on our watch". As if he somehow controlled what went on re doping! Is he losing it?

The context of the phrase was in a telephone call to Leblanc in which Armstrong was obviously rubbing his nose in it. Sounded sarcastic to me, but if gnashing your teeth about the guy is what turns you on, have at it.

Clearly if he did indeed say that, he was just trying to shove it in LeBlanc's face. It's just ironic that LeBlanc tried so hard to trash armstrong, and yet the 2 biggest doping scandals in cycling history perfectly bookmark armstrong's reign. 1 year before, and 1 year after. Apparently, irony is just lost on some idiots.

In a TV interview Lance said how much he really like and cared for the personalities and persons of Ullrich and Basso, especially Basso, but then added, obviously there's nothing to say because something had to be there otherwise their teams would not have let them go the day before the TdF.

Of course not, this is in reference to Operacion Puerto. No big scandal during his watch (I didn't say it wasn't going on, cause obviously it was). It was going on, but it didn't leak, so whether we see it as a weak 'argument' it is true.

you realise that this argument implies that LA had control over all factors in cycling.

Perhaps he meant he would have intimidated anyone who tried to expose the doping into shutting up. Maybe he could have personally doped Ullrich, Basso and the others from his motorbikes full of refrigerated blood. Or perhaps he could have advised Dr. Fuentes on some good roadside hiding spots like he used with Dr. Ferarri.

But most likely, he would told all his fellow dopers that what they really need is a well devised plan.

Like Vaughters told Andreau about Discovery in 2005:

I never said anything about ignoring those other scandals, but they were relatively isolated compared to the 1998 and 2006 scandals. Those were ther really big ones. There is a pretty constant flow of doping allegations in the sport of cycling. We all know this. But we're talking about the really big multi-team, tour-altering ground-shakers.

I also know that '98 and '06 scandals bookending armstrong's reign doesn't really mean anything. Lance knows that too. He was clearing trying to ruffle LeBlanc's feathers, and it worked.

well.... I would have thought at Festina (98) and Fuentes (current) are the two "biggest" scandals. Certainly the two biggest I've heard of. Were there bigger ones prior to Festina?
