  1. I just read in a basque newspapar's web site that Beloki is to announce (possibly tomorrow) an
agreement to ride for a non-spanish team the next few years. According to his sport agent the deal
includes only him and his brother...

    So who could they be?

    Gerolsteiner? Lampre?

Cyclingnews says tomorrow on their current posting which is for thursday (that dateline thing you
know). Saeco is also mentioned, but I have a hard time seeing that on, what would Simoni and DiLuca
do? I'd be willing to place money on Lampre since Frankie Big House is due to retire and doesn't
    ride Le Tour anyway.

From todays Velonews, "Spanish press reports suggest that France's number one team Cofidis - where
world champions Igor Astarloa and David Millar race - is favored to sign Beloki."

Reportedly Gerolsteiner and Saeco both had made him offers but Saeco just doesn't make sense.
Gerolsteiner looks like they have the depth to support a star big-tour rider and might be a good
match. Nobody mentioned Rabobank but that would be an interesting pair-up too.

Todociclismo is now reporting that Beloki and his brother are negotiating with Brioches la
Boulangerie... I didn't think they had that kind of budget.

Hmm. Reliable news source. Do they have pictures of Lance and Sheryl, too?

Nobody mentioned Brioches la Boulangere, which seems to be a decidely uninteresting pair-up with
next to no ability to support a star big-tour rider.

    too?

I hope not. The sartorial splendor might be too much for those outside of Texas to handle.

What are you talking about? There's actually a couple good climbers on that team in Sylvain Chavanel
    and Walter Beneteau.

You're right about B la B not having enough depth to support a Tour GC guy, but I bet they're banking on Beloki being a mentor to Sylvain... if the rumors turn out to be true... otherwise ignore this post.
