The anesthetic that causes the worst problem in old people is Versed
I beg to differ with the phrase "the worst problems". All anesthesia has risk (as does the surgery, and sometimes that is the culprit, but the family blames the anesthesia), and versed, with its very short half-life, does not cause "the worst problems" in old people. If you mean benzos, say benzos, but other classes of dope have their problems as well. I'd take versed over many others. blacksalt

Add to that Pepcid and many other innocuous sounding drugs which can sometimes cause Granny to think she's back in vaudeville doing burlesque... I'm partial to what we call "Mothers Milk", aka "Milk of Amnesia"- Propofol. That's a handy drug! Goomba
It was the weirdest thing. I was waiting in pre-op for them to take me to surgery, and then *blink*, just like that, the lights changed, I was in a different room (post-op) with various tubes attached and minus a kidney. No memories at all of being wheeled down the hall, talking to my wife, etc.
Yup, that happened to me too in a surgery about 4 years ago
Husband couldn't believe I could not remember talking to him before the surgery.
It was the weirdest thing. I was waiting in pre-op for them to take me to surgery, and then *blink*, just like that, the lights changed, I was in a different room (post-op) with various tubes attached and minus a kidney. No memories at all of being wheeled down the hall, talking to my wife, etc.
