less bikepaths/lanes = more chances of being hit by smsing 4wder
(having only fractionally missed being a hood ornament by young rap -
shtar p-plater - doof doof- this morning as I crossed a ped crossing on
foot grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 😠 )
Calling for improved public transport & cycling infrastructure must be
combined with moves for attitudial/behavioural shift.
And then there's this:
Commuters voting with feet on accelerator pedal

The shift by commuters away from Sydney trains and into cars is
worsening. New government figures show 9 million fewer trips were made
on CityRail this year than in 2001-02. As Sydney's train services are
shunned after years of cancelled, late and slow services, traffic on
the toll roads keeps rising. The biggest increases are on the M4 and
the M5.

Yeah, I was almost one of those who gave [censored] (city) Rail a major miss
having been late for work on many occassions and if I'm late for work so are
at least 70 others as my bus doesn't run either.
I would love dearly to ride into work but the thought of doing 26kms on the
M5 on a bicycle at 4am on a winter's morning has deterred me
somewhat....yeah I know I'm a Wuss 🙂
I can't afford to run a second car, the Mrs won't let me have a motorbike so
I'm stuck with [censored] Rail for the time being........sigh!!
Yes, but you are sooooo right cfsmtb, there has been a big increase in
traffic especially on the M5, in fact, I was driving along the M5 this
morning about 5.30am and was down to a crawl just before King Georges Road
(near beverly hills), what's it gunna be like in 10 yrs; probably have to
leave home at 2am to get there by 5..........only 1hr 15 mins on a
bike.......see; I have done it before!!
