There's also a couple more of similar caliber (Agate Creek, Canyon
Creek) around here and a similarly great one near Taos, NM (South
Boundary). Add those to your to-do list too!I'll show you next time you're around if you like.

France, Spain ,etc) but next year we might bet on the US, fly into SLC, rent
a van, and ride by car to the best single track, have Idaho, Utah, CA,

Just curious, I've ridden Monarch Crest w/ Rainbow several times, and I
think the CO trail south (I have not been north) of Molas Pass is a
little more spectacular. Have you ridden any of that section?--

Angelfire to Taos, about 28 Miles of almost all sweet singletrack. It's
a shuttle ride - the road climb looks really sketchy (and long). The
rafting company (Native Sons I think) next to The Bean in Taos does
shuttles.
It's a climb to start, maybe 1000' over a few Miles, then mostly DH with
a few climbs here and there. The last couple of Miles is steep and
technical down to town. Views may not quite be Crest quality, but they
sure don't suck and the riding is phenomenal. There's a few fast banked
turns that stick out in my mind. High banks where the trail crosses a
drainage that forms the natural berm. Total bliss.
