I feel a bit redundant on this group at the moment.
It's been over three months since I turned a pedal and I'm
missing it.
Not using the bike is a pain. It's financially draining;
over 150ukp on taxis and trains last week[1]. It's also
turning me into a fat [censored]; I was alarmed by the chubby
character in the mirror at the physiotherapist's. Worse, my
base fitness is evaporating, I'm sure. I never was into
cycling as a sport but it was always there as a bit of daily
exercise. The physio suggested I try an exercise bike but I
can't really bring myself to do it.
I'm also simply missing being on the bike. These
spring mornings aren't quite as enjoyable when
experienced in a bus.
Of relevance to those who cycle and sail; it looks like I'll
not be on the water this year. Three medium size jobs need
doing on the boat before relaunch and even then I won't be
up to single-handing in its literal sense. I had been
planning to skipper the boat in a Nelsonian command manner
and have daughters and wife run round doing my bidding. This
scheme foundered when they all dug their heels in and
refused to go on the diesel engine course.
Had a meeting with my solicitor last week. All looks like
it'll be a long haul. On the positive side, he's a keen
cyclist and seemed to know everything there is to know about
claims involving bikes.
Anyway, I've decided to hang around unless I find
uk.rec.miserable.fatty.stuck.indoors.
[1] but no longer having the car probably more than
compensates.
