Note that when you sort this way, it messes up one nice feature: If you
sort only by Subject, and then highlight the first message in the list,
you can (usually) type the first letter of the subject of the message
you're looking for, and the cursor will jump to that place in the
alphabet. You might want to try this before sorting as I've mentioned
above, just to be aware of the potential.
Frankly, Doug, I think Outlook Express hiccupped yet again. All my
settings are essentially the way they have always been, yet these things
happen periodically. Looks like I should indeed switch to Forte Agent
(although I think it's tedious) or some other news reader.

If your settings are as you say, it makes no logical sense for OE to somehow
miss a few posts. A good way to test again would be to post a series of
numbered test messages at regular intervals, say every 8 hours for a few
days, and keep track of the ones you see, or don't see. Include a unique
word in the subject line so it's easy to search for the messages. I suggest
"souvlaki". :-)
If you indeed can't see some of the messages in OE, search for them in
Google groups.
