I don't miss cereal. I eat cereal probably 6 times a week in Carb Countdown
milk, but it is the low carb varieties and I add unsweetened coconut and
nuts or flax seed and a pinch (.02 oz) of Al-Bran extra fiber to add taste
and low carb volume.
The key is to measure or weigh your portions.
Every carb item still gets measured or weighed, since portion control was
one of my problems. 1 oz today is the same size it was 1 year ago. I needed
to change, my bowls are much smaller and so am I.
A digital kitchen scale is a big help.
My favorite still is Atkins cereal which is too expensive retail and showing
up at Big Lots and a local liquidator stores (my advantage). You argue
small box? Well, your going to eat a smaller portion. The box lasts 9 days
if you eat your 1 serving. Again portion control. Online try
www.vitacost.com. $4 shipping so I buy a case.
Stay stocked up of your low carb items.
An alternative to cereal is low carb muffins or low carb pancakes. Mini
Carb is a good company. Flax seed meal is a great additive and also gives
pancakes more body. Wal-Mart has discounted the whole line of MINI CARB to
$1 a box if you get lucky(probably clearance). The almond flour based cakes
and muffins are very good-
definitely cut bake goods into portions immediately and freeze. Cupcake
papers help a lot here
Almond and soy based seems to be the best main ingredient- There are more
this year than last in the cereal isle, but they still haven't gotten the
carb level as low as possible. There are some wonderful sounding cereals
with flax and soy, then you find out its still loaded with sugar. They
ruined a good thing.
2 egg omelets are great for breakfast, but for my "big breakfast" or a sweet
ending, I will have a bowl of low carb cereal on the side. That is a lot of
energy in one meal so put it to good use and go get some exercise.
