MiniMed recalls infusion sets

good to know. I haven't received any of the newer sets but
that would've been pretty scary if I had.

come out in hot weather when I'm working up a sweat, but I
don't lose as many of them as I used to. By using an updated
method of applying the first piece of supplied tape, my sets
stick much better. I tried a Quick Set but didn't like it. I
don't trust that the ring won't easily become dislodged.

I've been using the Quick Sets for over a year (perhaps 2),
and find them far superior to the old SoftSets. I used to
have all the problems you mention on a regular basis. I have
only had one problem with a QuickSet failing, and I suspect
it was the result of my complacency with this infusion set.
Beg MiniMed for a sample; they are really much better. And
no, its never disconnected by accident; in fact, they are
rather hard to disconnect and re-connect(arthritis)

I've been using the Quick Sets (original) since they came
out. I have had an accidental disconnect once. I
inadvertently inserted the set so that the tubing exited the
site at 90 degrees to the direction of pull on the tubing in
the proper orientation to loosen the quick disconnect. The
site was on the back of my arm and I disconnected when
changing my shirt. As long as the tubing exits the site
along the line of pull or is oriented to tighten the quick
disconnect, you can drop the full weight of the pump several
feet with no effect except surprise. I've never used the
Soft Sets, but the Quick Set (original) adhesive is superior
to that on the Silhouette, at least for my body chemistry.
(There is as much individual variability in adhesive results
as any other aspect of diabetes management.) I used to lose
Silhouettes regularly running in the summer. With the Quick
Set I use no additional tape and never lose one.

We use QuickSet and have done so since the day they were
released. I think they are terrific. Ours stick so hard
that at times it is very difficult to get them off. Only
on one occasion did we ever have one come out. We use a
skin prep first though and perhaps that make a
difference.

I might have MiniMed give me ANOTHER sample to try out.

thanks much, but I doubt Minimed would turn down a request
for a free sample. I managed to put in ONE quickset without
an inserter. When I got my first pump in '96, MiniMed didn't
have inserters so it was a matter of poking it in as fast as
possible to get that big needle to pierce the skin. The
first time or two I did that, I had flashbacks to my early
days with syringes. <g>

it, cause if my current one fails, MiniMed will send me a
Free replacement FedEx Over Night. So if you want it just
