Bettini would normally be my choice.....except.

I watched Tirreno Adriatico on TV earlier this week and Bettini was struggling after falling.
I don't think Paolo will have the form on Saturday.

Pozzato, Paolini, Ballan, Bennati, McEwen, Bettini, Boonen, Freire, O'Grady, Schleck, Petacchi, Zabel, Cooke... No idea really, they all have equal chance in my opinion.
But, after Tirreno - Adriatico and his climbing effort on penultimate stage (like he was training for something), Oscar Freire might be the man.

Do you reckon Freire climbed well at, Adriatico?
I thought he struggled on stage 6, compared to Vino for example.

Maybe he was holding back?

Wouldn't be disappointed in seeing Freire win MSR.

Yes, I think he showed some good form on that stage 6 climb in breakaway group... Couple of very good pulls for a rider of his calibre on climbs (like I said, maybe some specific training). Vino is another climbing story.

Frank Schleck will be my pick. The sprinters will miss the mark this year, I predict.

I would be happy if Alessandro Ballan won it. He is a promising young rider. How's he been riding so far this season?

According to cyclingnews, a lot of the top names are not at 100% of their form this year, so a little less known name might take it.

I'm cheering for Hushovd, ofcourse. But I don't think he'll get it. 300 km is too long for him. O'Grady deserves it after going really well this season and still no win.

Pozzato is the obvious pick but he will be heavily marked. I'm going Stefan Schumacher.

Pozatto won't win. I think he got lucky last year.

It will be a sprint again as it has been most of the last 20 years. Sprinters now able to get over the lumpy bits unlike in years before
