The other day I was talking with an acquaintence of mine
in Osimo (Italy) and he mentioned this Italo-American, Mr.
Mengoni, who supposedly should be a prominent figure in
road racing, in the New York area I guess. I would cherish
any piece of information about the gentleman and his
activity as regards to cycling.

had a picture of him at the time and seems to me that he was
looking pretty old but chipper.

He is pretty old, but he still gets on the bike and puts on
the miles. I recall last year seeing him about 20 miles from
home climbing up a hill. He wasn't real fast, but he made it
up. I hope that when I am his age I too am out on the bike
putting in the miles.

That is who I am talking about. I did not think he got out
of the hospital when he was ill recently. If you really
have seen him since then, I am very happy to be wrong
about this.

First it's reported that he passed away. Then he was ill in
the hospital. Where do people get this? Not too long ago he
was hit by a car in FL, IIRC. But he recovered and is back
on the bike as someone else has reported here. Don't bury
the guy before his time.
