  1. Confederate Park 1:00 today downtown: Show ID from affected areas from
Katrina and they're ready to serve you a free hot meal, sponsored by Clear
Channel Radio. I don't know the fixin's but I'd be willing to guess pulled
pork sandwiches, cole slaw, baked beans 🙂

C*nf*d*r*t* Park! I'm a born southerner and I can't even say the word
any more. I wonder if there's a Pearl Harbor memorial anywhere in
    Japan.

It is a part of history and thee is no changing what took place. rather
than be ashamed of it, use it as an educational tool so history is not
    repeated.

The point was of the post was free
lunch for refugees. Purely informational. I didn't name the danged park.

I saw something on TV telling people to come to a park with ID... The
people who really needed that lunch have nothing, including an ID.

Trust me, the ones who could make it to the park for free lunch evac'd ahead
    of time and had ID.

Now that just doesn't make sense. Japan bombed a harbor. The only ones
they lost in that particular phase of the battle were any kamikaze pilots
who chose to go down (straight down) into the ships and subs. Why put up a
memorial for that? I'll bet there is one at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but
don't quote me, I've never been to Japan so I wouldn't know.

I'm certainly not condoning the "confederates" or the various states
withdrawing from the union, but you can't and shouldn't try to re-write
history. Stuff happened. So be it. The point was of the post was free
lunch for refugees. Purely informational. I didn't name the danged park.

Wasn't criticizing, just musing. The ironies were just too great.
Confederate Park. IDs required. Clear Channel Radio sponsoring. Guess
you'd have to be a Memphisianite to catch 'em all. Your paragraph was
so loaded I thought it was written by Ambrose Bierce or Mark Twain.

Fortunately or unfortunately history is rewritten everyday and neither
you nor I will know what our story will eventually be. Let's just hope
science doesn't get rewritten. Then we'll have to review the Son of
Sam's defense that "a dog made me do it."
