What?.....you mean go to bunnings, Or harvey norman, or any of the other "homemaker mile superstores" in aything other than your sunday best and a car????
They are planning to put pedestrian lights across maroondah hwy so that pedestrians can cross from one side of this commercial cancer to the other safely. Strange, I rarely see anyone 'walking' along this strip. I think most will elect to drive across the road anyway. Now, try and get pedestrian lights put in where there aren't influential commercial interests (but maybe lots of kids and week-end walkers / trail cyclists) and its another matter.
Sorry.....bit OT

you mean.. like across the moo highway in the lilydale area?? That would be just plain silly! (although I think it actually is now on the agenda as part of the $73 mill - yaaaaaaay!).
I am hanging out for bike paths/bike lanes to link Croydon with Lilydale...

Nah, there was plenty of helpful signage (ie: signage with symbol of cyclist going A over T placed every 20 or so meters) and nice volunteers politely waiving us all out of harms way.
*No helmets* Glory be, western civilisation shudders to a halt!
