  1. my blood sugar is always very low since my last medication reduction. sometimes even after eating a
large meal i feel funny (feet tingle feel cold)and i put that guilt on the amount of carbs eating. i
am just having a very hard time keeping my blood sugar above 90. i really do have to eat every 2 1/2
hours or else i just go too low. i have now eliminated my avandia and only on metformin 1000mg 1 x a
day.to see what happens. i had a nice big breakfast with 2 pita breads and for lunch lol i wont even
mention how much pasta i had ok ok i think i should - it had to be atleast 2 cups of pasta with
sauce. it was not whole wheat pasta but regular. and now 2 hours later my blood sugar was only 90 -
nope sauce was not a fatty sauce - only 2 skinned chicken breasts. i am pretty sure for me for now
avandia is a thing of the past. to be honest sometimes i feel more hypoglycemic than i do diabetic.
i really can not believe i have to eat this much - i will test my sugar again in a hour. i don't
want to have to eat again i have not even stopped burping my lunch.

It probably means that you are improving. Talk to your doctor about

    changing

sorry to say i have not done any impoving for a few months now as far as wieght goes anyway. but
maybe because i am giving my system less of a strain when i do eat and plan my carbs so they dont
hit me all at once. well in a way your right it is always good to discuss such things with your
doctor. i can tell when im around or just under 90 i prefer to keep it around 100. tom

Target BG's aren't for the doctor to set, they're already well known. As a diabetic, it's OUR job
to decide what numbers we'll run and do whatever it takes to make sure we can/do.

hey beav: i sent a reply to the uk group but i still how not seen it show. for me what you say is
right - i dont like feeling 90 in the 90's is ok i try to stay around 100 but still find 90 pops up.
with out the avandia i am finding it easier to stay about 90. but of course for people reading it is
important to talk about such things with a doctor.

It sounds too me like Tom isn't happy with levels below 90, so how can a doctors target suit him
    if it's even lower?

Your source please for this statement?

If you need a source for that, I suggest you do some reading. I certainly won't be doing your
    homework for you.

My Doctor recommends these blood sugars figures for a T2.

    Fasting: 80-120

    Pre-meals: under 110

Post meals 2.0 hours: ideal under 140, 120-170 is acceptable

Are you saying he's wrong? And if so why?

I suspect you have a reading problem too. I said nothing of the sort. I said tom wasn't happy below
90, so how would going even lower help him. I thought I might've cut and pasted what I wrote, but I
didn't, coz you SHOULD be able to find it by going back throught the thread.

im pretty sure i read that some place on the ADA web site. lol of course if someone tells a doctor
they dont like going below 130 lol something is wrong. the times i tested in the 80's wow i felt
like [censored]. so while the default range might be 80 like most if not all things with diabetics - it
needs to be tweaked to the indevidual diabetic.

    T2

he may recommend them as a starting point but i dont think he would have a problem with someone
saying they dont feel good when below 90. wow 170 exceptable? well i cant comment on that but i dont
think i could eat that much to give me a 170. ( well not anymore) for example to day was one of my
worst munchie days ever. included in it was icecream sandwiches and some nuttela with peanut butter
on bread and crackers. and i just tested at 111bs. i sware to God based on what i read here about
carbs i cant help but feel.. some how some way some freak thing happen to give me a false dx. no i
dont actually believe that but i can not believe i still can eat what i do even while totally off
the avandia now for a hmm well on the date i started this thread. il be taking a new a1c soon and
feel very comfortable that i will still be in the 5% club. tom

Indeed, but 90 isn't a big problem, and neither is 100. BELOW 90 and you're getting close to the red
line though, and not a lot of people enjoy working right at the edge.

I can do that without being low :-))

Anyway, as you get more used to being in the 90's, the feelings of "losing" it get less, but that
brings with it the problem of losing awareness to an incoming, so it's like you say, what works for
one, doesn't always work for another.
