Mechanical Disc pads (Stock)

Disc brakes are new enough to use modern pad material. I don't know specifically what Hayes uses,
aside from sintered metal and semi-metallic. I know the some (at least EBC) produce Kevlar pads, but
have never heard of anyone making mineral based pads. (Okay, technically metals are minerals, I am
just making the distinction between rock and metallic minerals.) So I don't think you need to worry.
AFAIK, the asbestos scare was a tad overblown. Unless you're ripping down fireproof ceiling tiles
without a mask....

OK . so I was holding the bike up by its seat so the rear was airborne so to speak I dropped it into
the middle front cog. and perhaps the 3rd or 4th gear gave it a good whak on the pedal and slowly
stopped did it 3 or 4 times. i notced a wierd smell and some fine powder in the air but it was too
late i had taken a whiff and a bit went into my mouth/throat. im just paranoid..

It might stop the brakes squealing but I sure when the skin on your lips stuck to the hot metal
you'd start squealing! :-(
