Nice troll.

Not sure I get that one...
Well, why bother mentioning that the trainer "is set to the middle of three resistance settings" if you're not interested in factoring in the power? Why even bother mentioning the trainer at all? The question could simply have been "with chainring size x, sprocket size y, and wheel/tyre size z, what is my road speed at a cadence of 100?"
On a side note, I went out for a ride this morning, dropped it into that exact gear, 53x14, pedaled with the same tune in my head, Stones 'Beast of Burden', looked down at the speedo and
ran into a lamp-post? :-)
[Seriously - above about 45mph I prefer to ask the stoker how fast we are going.] -- David Damerell <[email hidden]> flcl? Today is First Teleute, October.

Yeah, he asked "how fast would I be going", not "What'd be my speed in obsolete nonstandard units". The meters pretty much automatically come out when you're speccing wheel size in mm.

The 0.00297 is the fudge factor that brings all the units into line.
That's fine, of course, but it doesn't help you to understand *why*, nor is it (to me) terribly easy to remember -- I'd rather write it out from scratch.
