Anyone coming to The Woodlands in August for the national meet? We're
planning on a big crowd. Weather should be warm (hehehe) and there is lots
to do when you're not swimming...

long hours on deck.That's the problem with masters swimming nowadays. So many people
enter meets that you sit all day waiting to swim. I am beginning to
think they should swim the longer races as continuous swims. It would
work this way. Each swimmer wears one of those triathlon id tags, and
the lanes are set up with those id tag sensing systems, such that
every time you pass a certain point in your lane, the counter
increments your lap count. It takes a starting time and an ending
time, and submits your time to the computer where it is recorded
against your id tag. Then as each event is called, all the swimmers
marshal behind the lanes and start circle swimming. It would work
better in a 50 meter pool. People would start out, say, no less than
15 seconds apart, maybe, and you could set a maximum number of
swimmers per lane (5 maybe), and then you could pick a lane where you
would swim next to someone in the next lane that's a little faster
than you, so you would have something to inspire your swim. -

with these things. They tell me that this will be bigger than either one of
them. >1,100 swimmers 🙂 -

We have a crowded calendar for July. We're hosting STAGS, and Junior
Olympics--plus city championship for summer league. I won't be seeing
many tee times next month!! :-)Good luck with old guys (and gals)!
