Very nice frames, not sure what the current value is, but *true* Masi
framesets can be expensive, i.e., California built vs. Italy; did someone
like Mario Confente, Brian Baylis or Albert Eisentraut built it; etc.

As for "harsh riding," do youself a favor and don't use 700x18 or 20mm wide
tires. Get yourself something like 700x25 and pump it up to 100psi. Then you
won't complain about the frame being "harsh"....

I was looking at a fairly recent frame with this nomenclature - 02
maybe? Looked damn nice to me, and was reasonably light to boot (sub 3
lbs). However, I imagine my impression would be somewhat different had
the frame in question been an '82 of the same model :-)

In other words, what year/tubes/etc. Masi are you looking at?

With the fat tubes (for the time) they might have been stiffer than
average, but not particularly light.

Yes they were expensive because they say "Masi" on them. Some might
consider them classics.

Frames do not affect ride, despite a lot of babble to the contrary. All
frames are essentially rigid vertically.

The first time I saw one at a bike show, Bruce Gordon asked
them how they could build 8 frame sizes with only 3 lug
blanks. Intimating they were forcing the tubes under
tension. It was a pretty testy exchange. But 3V haven't
shown failures and I think we would have seen broken frames
if there was a problem.

Harsh riding? Try a wider tire.

Light for any era, well made and great riding frames. Instead of having
a tube go into the lug, the lug overlaped the tube. harsh, not at all,
beautiful and great ride. Well made, lifetime frame. Now made by
Alberto masi, imported under the name Milano to the US. Alberto's
'factory' still exists in the Viggorelli(?)Velodrome in Milano-I saw
the name on the door, but it was closed.
