Well, I have thoughts, but something else she isn't, and that's criminal.

Sending her to jail is just plain stupid, and a result of dumb-thinking on
the part of our federal "leaders".

Don't get me wrong. I'd just like some consistency. Martha Stewart lied to
a federal judge, so she goes to jail. Well and good.

Bill Clinton did the same thing. He didn't go to jail.

As a former stock broker she knew what she did was wrong and did it anyway.

Her determination to lie has cost the taxpayers quite bit. She should have

Yeah, they made an example of her. At least the stockbroker got

on her products I still feel she should be doing jail time for lying to
a federal judge.
Just like Clinton lying is it any wonder why we ask ourselves what's
wrong with kids these days with the examples set before them?

Ditto. I don't have strong feelings about Martha the person one way or
another (though she is a fellow Jersey girl and grew up just a couple miles
away from where I live, LOL). But I do think what happened to her was
extreme. I'm not saying she was right in what she did, but I do think if she
was not "Martha Stewart" she would have just been slapped with a fine and
the whole thing would have been over with.

I agree. What purpose will it serve to put Ms. Stewart in prison? We
don't seem to have enough cells to keep dangerous criminals
incarcerated for any length of time but we will put non harmful law
breakers in prison? Doesn't make sense from a realistic and practical
as well as fiscal standpoint. Unfortunately there are some people that
just want to see wealthy people suffer for attaining the American
dream.

It lets other rich/influential people know that it could happen
to them too.

And there are also those that know that some CEO's and other executives
of major corporations break laws because they feel they're above the
law, and if caught that they'll be able to wiggle out of it.

Yes, Martha is being made an example of, but if her going to prison
keeps some executive from doing something improper, then the example
has worked.

Remember, Martha did do something wrong, tried to cover it up, and
in the process lied to federal investigators. She got caught, and
now because she's a role model, she gets to pay the price for not
living up to the image she projected, an image that she prized so
much that she lied and conspired to protect.

Some people's real role in life is to be a bad example.

I think her guilty. Its not becaue of the money she has, her own show..

She broke the law. She needs to face the consequences. She is lucky she did not
get worse than what she got.

I feel for her because of her age, and how it affected her family.

Its about taking responsibility for your own actions.
