Marion Jones to bite the medal dust

of lying to federal agents about her drug use and an unrelated financial
matter, the Post reported.
"I want to apologize for all of this," the newspaper reported, quoting a
person who received a copy of Jones' letter and read it to the paper. "I
am sorry for disappointing you all in so many ways."
No one answered the door at Jones' Austin home Thursday evening.
The admission could cost Jones the five medals she won at the Sydney
Olympics. Though she fell short of her goal of winning five gold medals,
she came away with three and two bronzes and was one of the games'
biggest stars.
But her career has been tarnished by doping allegations since then.
Victor Conte, head of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, repeatedly
has accused Jones of doping.
Jones was one of several athletes to testify in 2003 before a San
Francisco federal grand jury that's investigating BALCO, and former
boyfriend Tim Montgomery was given a two-year ban for doping in late
2005.
In December 2004, the International Olympic Committee opened an
investigation into doping allegations against Jones.

If you noticed she claimed her coach told her it was flaxseed oil. Its
that all to typical, I didn't 'knowingly' take steroids defense.

Ah, she didn't knowingly take steroids. She just took drugs from a
man who had given her husband steroids in the past and just took him
at his word that it was harmless stuff. Who could have guessed that
he was lying?

I'm not a big fan of the "I'm not guilty on the grounds that I'm one
of the stupidest people who has ever lived" excuse.

I find it amusing when these fallen athletes try to explain it away by
claiming they didn't know what they were taking. "They told me it was
flaxseed oil!"

These folks are world class athletes, and they're going to ingest things
into their bodies that they don't know the contents of?

That would be like a NASCAR driver letting a stranger pour "mystery
liquids" into his fuel tank before a race and not being concerned about
what those liquids were.

And the worst thing about this, is that the person who came in second
when Marion was winning her gold medals will never be acknowledged,
given the endorsement deals, or get to carry their country's flag at the
medal ceremony.

You should pay closer attention. I was never ever a troll. Ever. I
made a point of attacking trolls, but I've never ever attacked other
serious posters in here. For some reason, a couple of people felt a
need to attack me in return, and I began to think seriously that this
group was FILLED with morons, that they were unable to distinguish the
difference between what I did and what the trolls did (there are really
only two). I've never been hostile to good people, ever.
