Mantle cell lymphoma is an aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
that remains incurable with current standard
chemotherapeutic approaches.

Not to me, but I needed the information for another. There
are not enough reliable sources for this kind of
information. There are a lot of cancer information sites,
but they are too shy when it comes to giving accurate
prognostic information. I think most patients appreciate
honesty even when it is not what they want to hear.

Of course there can be no reliable source of information on
this issue! It was one of the "bad" lymphomas but things
have changed since we found it responds quite well to
Rituximab. This lead to a more aggressive approach in
combined treatments and maintenance therapy with initial
good results. I have several patients in CCR for over a
year. This can mean nothing or a lot... So the only honest
answer to your question is -- wait ten years and ask again!

Useful advice again _PT_? CCR in mantle cell is fairly
common with CHOP or CHOP-R. But recurrence is almost
inevitable

Unfounded contestation born from a compulsive need to
allways have the last word again Steph?
What data can you possibly have to recurrence rates
with R-protocols, mainly high dose ones, not to mention
the maintenance notion that is quite new in this kind
of lymphoma?
Why can't you admit that you can only have reliable ten year
survival data many years after you start a new treatment?
What's the point of quoting to a today patient scientificaly
correct but completely outdated survival data from a ten
years old treatment protocol that this particular patient is
not going to follow?

_PT_, trust me on this one: You wouldn't survive five
minutes in an academic oncology unit.
What data do you have to quote, apart from the fact that you
have a couple of patients in CCR after 1 year? Some vague
hope? I don't remember reading your paper on the subject.

More like a couple of dozens many after 2-3 years, but
OK. Yes I do have hope. I work because of it. I don't
start defeated.
I do work in an academic oncology unit, you know that... The
hospital has over 2000 beds and the university over 800
years. And I'm the chief.
I admire your persistence! It's only ill directed...

I meant one where rationality, evidence and common sense
prevailed, not irrationality, prescience and dilletantism
