here. Lance is ripped and ready, just hope he's not too light. Jan
looks like he's on my diet, and nothing near the shape he was in at his

Wow ... you're reading quite a lot into a pretty lousy little pic.

The spin is that Jan is in the best shape ever. But, when has that NOT been
the spin aside from the years he didn't compete?

I've been watching him so closely, for so long, and I had lots of
inside talk for a while that I'm hoping I know what they are doing.
I'm hoping that they are leaving Jan a little heavier, with a little
more power concentrating on the TTs, then allowing him to ride into
climbing shape. This would work well for Jan considering that there are
2 TTs in the first 4 days. Jan needs to get the monkey off his back,
and even if he wins people will say that since Lance was retiring and
had broken the record his heart wasn't in it. Jan is screwed no matter
what he does, but if he wins he should retire along with Lance and just
enjoy life. He deserves it.

It's hard to tell from the pictures if Jan is overweight. But Jan upper
body so it's harder to tell. But being finishing 3'42" is not a
encouraging sign for Jan. But the Tour de Suisse will be the real
test..... If Jan enters Tour de Suisse is in good shape he will have
some time to fine tune his form.

As for Lance it's suprising to finish behind Hincapie. While a short TT
is not a accurate indicator it could point to signs that Lance is still
off form. But who knows Lance has the rest of the Dauphine Libre to
prove himself.

On the otherhand I wonder if Lance is purposely downplaying
expectations in Dauphine Libre to hide is form. Since Lance has chosen
to cut back on his tdf col reconointering it could put him at a
disadvantage.........

I'm still trying to figure out why Jan couldn't get to the front in
the stage. If everyone was holding onto his wheel, doesn't that pretty
much put him in first place anyway?

The problem is that Jan couldn't win another Tour after Armstrong
because by next year Basso will be pretty much unbeatable.

Yeah, I'm afraid that jan's already missed his chance, but it's got to
be this year if ever. The only thing he has going for him is that they
don't seem to have anyone even close to on form other than Zabel who
was never a GC threat, and who's only shot at the Green is for lots of
people to drop, and win on consistency.
