  1. I have my magnet set up as per instructions. (one magnet working my POLAR and Cateye 7.).

    No problems usually.

Until... when I sprint I get it clicking on the sensors.

If I set the magnet far enough away to not click it is too far away to work. (when sprinting hard).

    Is this a normal thing?
There must be some flex in the wheel (BONTRAGER) when I apply sprint force.

    Do I ignore it?

Learn to sprint so that the wheel doesn't flex?

    Or is it another problem?

    Carbon forks?

It is sometimes so bad that I'm scared the spoke will break.

    I weigh 85kgs and ride a standard TREK5500.

    Any advice?

    Change wheels?

    Lose weight?

Anybody else having the same problem?

I noticed mine would do that so I backed it away a hair and it hasn't done it since. I have a Giant OCR 2 with a carbon fork and I'm using the Cateye Astrael 8

mine was doing it also, i backed it off and stiffened the front wheel a little, since it was only when i was standing and sprinting that the wheel would flex and tap the magnet against the receiver

  4. Usually this happens when you have the magnet/pickup mounted out near the rim as opposed to being in close to the hub. If you can mount the pickup closer to the center of the wheel, the distance the magnet moves when the wheel flexes will be considerable less.

nope it was definately due to the blades (spokes) being just not tight enough it was running true but just that little to much flex in the wheel..

but i know what you mean about the positioning (Mavic Cosmos) Clincher just a little to flexible thats all it was for me.

  6. Don't know why I didn't think of lowering the sensor and magnet before.... just abou tto do it now....

    Thanks for the tip....

Here's a little pic of me coming 4th in my last race. (My best result so far....)
As you can see I still have to lose that spare tire/tyre around the gut.....

Fat and puffing, but whipping quite a lot of asses in the process....

  7. flex happens

  8. I moved all the sensors and magnets about half way down the forks, now my POLAR watch is not picking up a signal. The battery maybe dying or I have to move the lot back up a copuple of inches...

If it's not one problem it's another......

maybe you are moving the magnet further away from the sensor, preventing it from not picking up the magnets rotations, but closing the gap again as you move it back to its original position.

The magnet is almost touching and I get the red lights flashing in the POLAR sensor to show it's working, either the battery is a little low or the sensor is too far from my watch. I haven't moved it up a bit yet.. maybe tomorrow.
