Luck needed to win TdF

I suppose any discussion could be called a troll. The
difference is, I was wondering if anyone had a thought on
the subject? There are many accidents in the Tour and any
bicycle race for that matter. There are many people that
hate the US more now than ever and I was wondering if it had
an effect or if people thought it may come into play?

here anyway. Many puffed up shirts here and people who are
trying too hard to look like they have some sort of
knowledge or insight about people who just want opinions.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing myself. The "Road to
the Tour" show highlighted someone (I forget who) who was
supposed to do well last year and then got caught in a spill
on the second day of racing and was out. Similarly,
Armstrong almost went down last year when Beloki went down.
It really also does have luck involved, unlike something
like tennis for instance. Luck doesn't win you tennis
matches, but luck is involved to a higher degree in biking.

One = Eddy Merckx (TIOOYK) As testament to his toughness,
Eddy still finished well. There were considerble fans
unhappy with Merckx, but not due to the politics of Belgium.

US was about as hated last year, too. It would appear sports

Thanks for answering this part. I know it is tough to
answer, but just looking at opinions. I personally think we
are more hated now than ever, due to Iraq and how we are
handling all that. I don't want to get into politics, but I
hope you are right, that we are hated about the same as
last year.

I wasn't here last year for the troll/flame etc., but I
understand how it could get political or whatever. I think
this year is different than last year, but I don't live in
Europe and don't have a handle on it. I am glad I traveled
all over Europe years ago, I do know that. Now I would put a
Canadian flag on my backpack and hope for the best.

I guess this was a bad topic. Forget about the whole
thing and I will stick to my own thoughts without
discussion on here.

Well, I do that sometimes and being close to a very large
university and interacting with many students and graduates
that are from other countries, it isn't as easy as you may
think. I have been attacked pretty hard about trying to show
them that Americans are not all aggressive and that I have
compassion for other people regardless of where they are
from. Many look at me and act like I wouldn't understand
being that I am from the US. Maybe they are right.
