If you do go for one of the Lidl one's have a good look at the straps
as that is the only weakness with the Ebay ones. In fact does anyone
know where you can get suitable replacement elastic strapping from?

I would guess any shop that sells dressmakers' supplies, and/or your
local alterations emporium.

Tried that but they don't have elastic tape with a fibre covering like
that used for head torches. They have knicker elastic, etc. only. I
can't think of another item that uses elastic tape like that on head
torches.

Tried that but they don't have elastic tape with a fibre covering like
that used for head torches. They have knicker elastic, etc. only. I
can't think of another item that uses elastic tape like that on head
torches.

My Draper head torch uses standard 1" flat elastic, as far as I can
tell, although most shops won't sell it in blue .. you can usually have
white, or cream, or whatever. Bit wide for knickers, but used for the
elastic waistband on PJs etc.

Interesting comments on elastic !! The strapping on the Ebay torches
is too short and tends to slip in the clamps. I ended up
cannibalising my old 4.5v flat battery Petzl, mounting the LED head
onto it. I replaced the long perished straps with the sort of stuff
you're mentioning but it doesn't have the body/stiffness/feel/? ....
that the proper strapping has.

The torch is excellent and for a few pounds is very good value. If
it's the same source for the Lidl ones then they are a rip off. I'll
pass opinion when I see one!

I didn't realise that Lidls had different things on offer in different
areas. East coast Scotland are not getting these torches this time
round so I won't be able to pass further comment on them. But I will
repeat the warning that they need to be noticeably better than the
Ebay ones to be worth the extra cost - caveat emptor!
