  1. Hi,

I've decided to return to low carbing after I tried it for a month a couple
of months back and found it seemed to work well. In addition to cutting the
carbs back to 20 grams a day, I'm hitting the gym ~ 4 times a week for
relativly heavy resitance training (which I have been doing on and off for a
    couple of years).

I found that while on induction my energy levels really took a hit, and I
couldn't last more than 20 minutes in the gym. Indeed, I often craved to
just get home and eat my fill of peppers and steak. In between my previous
low carb trial and now I started supplementing my workouts with 5-10 mgs of
Creatine supplement and found that my vigor in the gym was renewed, and
    muscle gains began to follow.

So, the question: does anyone have an personal experiences to share with
respect to creatine, resistance training, and low carbing?

    Thanks,

    phan

  2. Your ability to lift hard and low carb will increase after a while so if you
can stand to suffer a bit, you can leave off the creatine. Creatine tends
to hold water in the muscles while LCing tends to drive it out. So, to some
extent, creatine supp and LCing work against each other. Another option for
vigor in workouts is to TKD (targeted ketogenic diet) or CKD -( Cyclical).
    GIYF.

  3. They do not work against each other. The point of low carbing is not to
drive water out of your muscles (for most people anyways) - it's to burn
fat. Bodybuilders as well as those knowledgable in fitness have been low
carbing for years - I personally remember low carbing to lean up over 10
years ago. Taking creatine during your low carbing/weight training is a
great idea. Though the original poster already made this clear by stating
    his experience.

My experience has been the same over and over again through out the years.
Low Carbing is a great way to burn fat. It works even better if you do
resistance training (your overall health is better too). And, my experience
with creatine has been nothing but great.

Dont get too hung up on the scale. Look in the mirror. How do your clothes
    fit? How do you feel?

  4. Question:

How about aerobic training? Wouldn't some aerobic exercise help with burning
calories which if low carning would come from stored fat?
So, could I take creatine and do both resistance and aerobic training?

I never said that the point of low carbing is to drive water out of your
muscles, but that is what happens. Creatine draws water into the muscles,
so the two do work against each other in the sense I mentioned.

But the OP doesn't really need creatine to weight train and LC. He said he
starting taking creatine after stating LC once he found a energy hit. That
enery hit will lessen after a while and creatine isn't really necessary. And
the two, so some degree, do work against each other.

TKD and CKD are two common methods that are used to address the energy
issue. They involve including more carbs in the diet to promote exercise
    intensity.

Of course, aerobic exercise will burn calories. The same thing happens even
    if you aren't LCing.

Do you guys think the only way to lose weight and burn fat is to LC? One
can eat a diet high in carbs but containing less calories than needed to
maintain current weight and still lose weight. Any activity that burns
calories will help build a calorie deficit and result in fat loss. LC isn't
special in terms of buring fat. It's main advantage is that it suppresseds
appetite and thus makes it easy to eat less (for most people). If you eat
less, your body turns to fat stores for the energy it needs, and hence you
    lose fat.

If you wish to get the most out of creatine usage, you're likely better off
to take it during a carb load phase on a CKD. Google CKD and creatine.
Staying stricting LC while taking creatine will likely blunt the effect of
    creatine.
