  1. Or anyone else around here who happens to understand a bit of Danish
    and knows about bikes ;O)

Obviously I haven't had all that much experience in dealing with
bicycles in English.. I'm trying to translate this word but haven't
really been able to find a translation.. Probably not looking hard
    enough or something...
Anyways if someone (hinthint ;O) might be able to translate it,l that'd
    be GRRRRRREAT!!.. Anyways...
Ekset... as in, mit baghjul er ekset or mit baghjul slår if you
will... Not that it's an issue right now but I thought it was going to
be, so it'd be nice to know when it happens one day and I need to
explain to my LBS that I want the to have a look at it...

-Rasmus who indeed feels like a stupid foreigner right now ;O)

  2. Is more of a short, fat aussie ;-) but perhaps the mystery part can be
    found here:

    http://www.parktool.com/repair_help/FAQindex.shtml

This site is the source of almost all my knowledge about all things
that need fixing on bikes :-)

(Other than the helpful folk here who advised on my brakes, that is!)

    ali

  3. Ah, thanks for that Ali, that did indeed answer my question actually
    =O)
    I'm all happy again.

I think the word you're looking for is '[censored]'. As in "mit baghjul er [censored]"... Am I right?? Am I even on the right track? Otherwise you might tell them it's playing up or making noises etc.

Just give them the wheel and show them what it's doing.... you see, even though I know Danish, I am completely and utterly hopeless mechanically in any language I may speak. I'm so bad that if my gears slip once on my way to work, I get to work and call my other half and demand that he picks me up after work so I don't have to ride that 'Flaming death trap' home. Or if my bike makes a noise (although you'd be lucky for me to hear it), again, I tell Paul "Bad noises are coming from my bike. I think it is going to break". He usually asks me where the noise is coming from. "How should I know? You're the expert!".

If you want, Rasmus, feel free to send me an e-mail ([email hidden]) and I'll get my other half to look at it. He worked in a bike shop for several years and fixes all my problems. I'm sure he'd be happy to help. Afterall, we are only around the corner and it IS a long weekend and we don't do much at all on weekends.

LOL well close buit not quite... As it turns out, apparently the word I
was looking for is dishing ;O)...

Thanks for that Lotte it really is appreciated... But the wheel isn't
actually dishing right now, it was just that I thought it might have
been at one point.. Looong story ;O) But it's all fine after all... I
shall keep it in mind though ;O)

Er, LotteBum actually said: "I'm so bad that if my gears slip once on my
way to work, I get to work and call my other half and demand that he
    picks me up after work..."

Note she said "other half" not "better half" and I'm just going to clear
    out for a while now...

Isn't it funny? now I know how Elmer Fudd feels in the cartoons after
he's been handed back the lit bomb that he just tried to throw at Bugs
    Bunny...

Nope, sorry to disappoint, although Tamyka has me fearing that I might
be running the risk of getting a bit too intimately acquainted with
    said piece of hardware now...

Hahaha!! That's a good point. No, he is definitely by better half, I must say.

Fear not Rasmus, said piece of hardware is only put to use when absolutely required (ie. look at me the wrong way).

You probably all think I'm a right demanding b!tch now, but let me justify the nagging woman remark. I am indeed quite a nag. It's gotten better in recent times, but when Paul and I moved in together about 2.5 years ago and he asked me "How do you clean a bathroom?" when asked to do it, did not know how to operate a washing machine, barely knew how to reheat meals in the microwave, yet now he's quite the cleaning and cooking machine. I can even trust him to wash my work clothes and cook me dinner (although cooking for more than four people becomes quite a challenge). In fact, when I ride home from work, I can be fairly confident he will have at least cooked dinner for me when I get home. Heck, on Saturday I went riding whilst he cleaned the house. All of this was achieved through persistence and nagging.

Anyone you want to send to 'Lotte's Finishing School for Young Men' Tamyka? Anyone want to nominate themselves?

    Lotte

P.P.S. Just to cover myself, I mow the lawn (I can even start the mower) and I know how to use a drill (need to learn the difference between a 12V and an 18V battery though - they look the same) and I can assemble furniture. Oh, and I can whippersnip and get huge trees out of pots (you stand on the pot and pull the tree up). Oh, and I can lay tiles like there's no tomorrow. Proven fact.

    can you:
lose one sock of pair within one week of purchase?
know 1027 different ways to use beer in cooking on a BBQ?
hit your thumb and wear black nail with pride at the watercooler?
    think the couldabeens are high-culture?
    think 3 vegetables are hoite-coutoure?
wear more than 3 pairs of socks riding?

and isnt Hippy enroute to the swedish campus at the mo?

PS nagging doesnt work. ask my wife. she's the one who i have broken into submission that I AM the blonde in this relationship but make up for it in 'other' ways...

I can, and I can beat it. I can lose underpants within one week of purchase.

know 1027 different ways to use beer in cooking on a BBQ?

I am a pyromaniac and therefore not allowed near fire.

hit your thumb and wear black nail with pride at the watercooler?

I wear each and every one of my battle wounds with pride. I even show the ones on my celliulite off.

    think the couldabeens are high-culture?

    Wha?

    think 3 vegetables are hoite-coutoure?

I don't even know, let alone east three different vegetables!

wear more than 3 pairs of socks riding?

I live in Qld. But I do on occasion wear mismatched socks riding.

PS nagging doesnt work. ask my wife. she's the one who i have broken into submission that I AM the blonde in this relationship but make up for it in 'other' ways...

I have Paul on a points system. He has to earn my hard work.

(boy am i in it now!)

That's what I'm thinking right now, particularly seeing as males outnumber females on this site about 1000:1.

I'll lend you my eyebrow pencil. I've got really blonde eyebrows (this is NOT an invite for inappropriate comments/questions!) and this particular one does the job without making them look as if they're tattooed on.

I suspect only about .0003% of spouses/significant others read this forum. (based on the tone of comments and the almost total lack of retractions and grovelling apologies to be found here 😄 )

It is actually very likely that my partner reads this. He complains that he can't sign up because I think he sometimes wants to get in there and cyber-abuse me. I hardly blame him. He is a very tolerant man, putting up with me - I am moody and very annoying, not to mention inconsiderate and wear man clothes and show butt crack etc. The list goes on - I'm just plain foul.

I don't blame you - that came out completely wrong. My brother-in-law once saw my car in a shopping centre car park and went "Oh, that must be Lotte's car", walked pased it and saw a pile of clothes, topped off with my underpants on the passenger seat. The ONE time I was in a hurry to go shopping after work and had to get changed in the car, someone I know sees it and totally gets the wrong idea. Anyway, he thought I was quite the slapper for a while after that. Luckily now he realises that I really am very innocent *batting eyelids*.
