Loonng waterproof jacket needed

Sorry, Roos, it needs to be anorak style, with a front zip, hood - the
usual thing for hill-walking - but just very long.

Norrona makes the classic Norwegian anoraks which are quite long but
probably not as long as you describe.

Somewhat out of style these days, as you've seen. But you could get a
made-to-measure from a company like Slioch. You pay extra for MtM, of
course, and at Slioch you pay for extra length by the inch. But you
don't have to pay postage from NZ and hop it's what you want on the
basis of a photo...

Personally I find if it's warm enough for shorts then having them get
wet isn't too bad, and good ones will dry out soon enough anyway. Which
saves carting around all the extra bulk of a knee-length jacket all the
time it /isn't/ raining.

I saw them when I was in NZ as well and was interested for the same
reasons as you (knee-length, shorts, rain etc), although not got round
to doing anything about it.

The Company is Oringi
I use their Grampian Jacket. Their service is second to none. If you
request a catalogue they will also send you a piece of the material
that their jackets are made of.
I have used my jacket in Tasmania for about 5 years now.
Things I like about the jacket:
long, but I think their sizing is out a bit, I need an extra large and
I am small
really waterproof, South West Tassie can really throw rain at you.
tough,
get back from a walk and throw it in the washing machine( they
recommend this)
Good storm flaps

Things I am not that happy with:
a very basic jacket, only has 2 pockets,
being a bit longer , the inside of the coat does get a bit wet at the
bottom when pushing through scrub
probably not the most "breathable jacket on the market"
