  1. I'm a 40 yrs old roadie who has been riding a cannondale caad 5 ultegra bike on and off for the past 10 yrs. I started riding again after a 3 yrs break. The caad 5 is a stiff fast bike with an aggressive geometry but during 3hr plus base training rides I become more and more uncomfortable on it. I suspect it may due to getting older and or taking a 3 yr off. I was thinking of getting an endurance bike.....maybe a giant defy or cannondale synapse. I have a $1000 budget. This bike will be used for base endurance training. Any suggestions.

Test ride the Synapse and Defy to see what you think.

  3. The problem with that is my lbs don't allow test rides. I was wondering if anyone test rode these bikes and can tell me how they compare.

What a bike feels like to someone else says nothing about how the bike will feel to you and how it will fit you. You need to find a different LBS because if the current one doesn't allow test rides, it's not worthy of your money.

  6. I get your point. Thanks for the advice
