Looking for advice on host for BUG website

One of the companies I do some work for is a hosting company, they'll
do low volume PHP hosting for $35p/m, or $20 p/m for plain HTML.
vivitec.com.au Dunno if that's the sort of price you're expecting?

I've been reasonably happy with phpwebhosting.com. US$10/month for
"unlimited if you're not stupid" basically. More than I need, too much
hassle to move, and I don't worry about putting popular stuff there.

$47au a year, for unlimited space (obviously🙂 )
data xfer is about 1gb per month i think? if you pay more, you get more
bandwidth allowance, but with 3 pages, i doubt you'll need it.
its been super reliable for all of my domains over the past few years.

Got our YarraBUG website up via the domain name being sponsored by the LBS (Peter Moore's Abbotsford Cycles) and a few favours. I used the Wordpress free blogging software as a template. I'll also email you with a few tips. 😉

Have ADSL? Computer literate? (you can read and find the on/off switch)
Just put up a P1 boxen and host it at home.

Best with static IP and ISP who allows servers.
And doesn't charge for uploads
Check http://www.broadbandchoice.com.au

LAMPing is easy if you join a LUG list (L as in Linux),
plus you are bould to have some local bright sparks who can help.

I've used www.supremehost.net for a few years, first for www.suzyj.net and more recently for www.littlefishbicycles.com.

They're reliable and cheap. They start at US$25 odd per annum. There's a whole pile of stuff available that I don't use, like sql databases and stuff.

Great idea to get sponsorship. Our bike shops are generally very
supportive. I also like the idea of having a calendar on the front page.

I've downloaded a program called rapidweaver which seems fine to me. I'm
not all that interested in learning anything about web design, just want
to develop a site where people can find info about local touring,
advocacy, etc.

Any tips most greatfully accepted.

Its the damm wordwrap thing in notepad that gets me. Write a linux
script in notepad and something will go wrong.

But generally writing bash in notepad has the big problem that you don't
have bash installed. That's a fairly major factor in it not working.
