Been a Look user for 12 years, and need a new set of pedals for my Merckx. I've heard good reviews for the new Dura Ace.
Any Look users switch over? Impressions? Look suggestions? I'd also hate to put Dura on my Campy Merckx, but if the Dura's are that great. I'd probably do it.

Switched from Speedplay to Look b/c bigger platform, more secure connection, etc. Dura Ace KILLS Looks. The float is more natural (than looks), the cleats don't squeak, the connection is more secure, the little rubber tabs make walking in the cleats easy, blah blah blah. Shimano doesn't mess around. When they take up the challenge of improving something they make serious gains. Dura Ace pedals are better in every respect.

All reviews I have read say the new Ultrega pedals are just as good as the Dura-Ace, but quite a bit cheaper.
I have the new D/A pedals and they are excellent. They are cheaper than high end looks, have a lower and cleaner looking profile, the rubber tabs for walking are great. As mentioned, you can get the Ultegra's for cheaper and perform pretty much the same. I think the main difference is the D/A are more durable around the bearings and axle.
Dont go look unless you just love them. They squeek, and creek and the cleats wear out so quick that look must make millions from cleats alone. Plus they are hard to service, you need a special tool to get the buggers apart. And there seems to be little holes where water just pours in and stuffs them up. Never again for me. When mine wear out it is give mr ultegra a go.

Sure.SP,SDP-R, and now the new STUFF(AKA) Look knock offs, with the same hole patern.Shimaino knows a good thing when they see it. They use to even have their name on Looks.

I understand that shimano is licensing the look style cleat now. The reason SPD-R came to be was supposed to be because look had not allowed them to use that design earlier. Either way, licensed or ripped off they did make some significant improvement on the look design.
