I bought a bunch of these over the last few years and they do break as
they age depending on how often you remove it and put it on and how
large your hands are.

Mine have all broken at the "S" in "LiveStrong"...perhaps the weakest
point.

whatever the cause, i think that this incident makes it obvious that
one should carefully examine one's livestrong band prior to any
ride. just thinking of the consequences, should it fail mid-ride,
make me glad i'm wearing helmets!

WTF are you doing taking it off in the first place? Don't you know that
everytime you take off a Livestrong band an angel gets cancer?

Helmet yes but protective eyewear too. That thing could snap any second and
put yer eye out!

I threw mine in the ocean, so I don't recall where it broke, but a good
observation you made. Crappy American workmanship? I have an orange
Bisbee1000 band, that I wear, that doesn't have the durablity problem the
livestrong band seems to have.

I'm a cancer survivor and I've had the thing on without removing it
since the '04 TdF. I wore it when it was cool and when it wasn't
cool. It's a "cancer survivor" thing.

When I first put it on, it was for the intended purpose. But through
the years it evolved into a good luck charm, not one crash when I wore it.
That's why it crushed me, when it snapped. While going on kayak trip, I
gave the band an appropriate burial at sea, with some toots from my
emergency whistle.

Here's a really hard one - why isn't there piles of rubber along the sides
of roads meters high? Why do rubber bands rot if they touch the floor?

Answer - there's a bacterium that eats elastic rubber compounds. Therefore
all elastic rubber and synthetic elastic rubber compounds have a finite

chokes and dies on your Livestrong band, it'll be all the LAF's

It's obviously underbuilt, as there's no way a 1/4" band of
plastic could contain the puissance of your self-regard.
Perhaps you should comission a full yellow body stocking
built to a higher yield strength. A wetsuit manufacturer
should be able to help you with that.

hook slipped and flew back right in the guy's eye. Ugly.)

I'm not a survivor, but I put it on before the tour in '04 (still have
the original on) for a friend who's a weekend cyclist Since then, it's
had a lot of meaning for a number of people. I can't tell you how many
people I've given them to that have cried. I wear it for them. I can
care less about the cycling cynics who get pissy about lance and it
being trendy.
