care to elaborate on this "nice prize"? the 30-39 grouping is the
most competitive. the kenyan would have better odds and a more
strategic advantage to race as a 41 year old.

Oh yeah....Kenyans are notorious for strategically disadvantaging
themeselves. they run in more competitive age groupings, sometimes wear
their L shoe on the R foot and visa versa...

the Kenyans are notorious for this. they are cheaters and can't even really
run. they have an aptitude for concealing small, motorized vehicles between
their legs.

dont try to pick apart his case. it had to be the same guy or else his story
is just plain silly. actually this same guy works at my company and he
always pretends to be me so that our paychecks get switched. he makes more
money that i do so i dont complain.

This would be so in most events with a decent-sized competitive field,
but in a small race it can be the case that it is more difficult to win
or get on the podium in the M40 or even the M45 AG than in the open
class.

It is known anecdotally that in one such race two veteran/masters
runners who knew they´d finish 1-2 overall tossed a coin to decide
which one would register in the OA and which in the AG category - so
maybe there were two Kenyan runners, one in the 30-39AG and one in the
40-44/49, who´d agreed to maximize (and share) their combined
winnings?:-)

IMHO there is nothing wrong about racing in a "too young" AG - even
when it´s done out of a purely mercenary motivation (and not out of a
desire to seek harder competition or out of vanity), unless the (race
or association) rules state that one has to race either in one´s own
AG or in the open category.

Besides, personally I find it a bit pathetic to gather ironware when
there are older guys who´ve ran faster - and I don´t think I´d wish
to be heard complaining about an older guy "taking" my nice prize:-)

40. I figurd out that his brithday should be between 7-1 and 7-31 bacb
in 2001 he ran as 35 on 7-1 and 36 on 7-31 if we do the math he is 40.

FWIW a quick browse through the first 20 Google hits give his age as 27
in 1993, 36 in 2002 and 38 in 2005 - which would seem to be both very
consequent and about right for someone whose date of birth is
(according to IAAF Competitions Department) January 17th 1967.

Unless IAAF has it wrong and my calculation is in error, those nice
prizes will not be available to you until 2007:-)

That age as 36 in 2001 looks like a result of a clerical error to me,
and FWIW personally I´d like to have something more criminating as
evidence before accusing anyone of wrongdoing.

BTW in European AG races a runner´s age doesn´t change midyear, it
stays the same for the entire calendar year, i.e. if you´re born in
1961-1965, your AG is M40-44 in races on both sides of your birthday.
