Lightweight coat search

As Peter says, too many choices, not enough info. Weight, price, usage

After some looking around, I decided that I don't like the short
smock/jacket designs for waterproofs. If the weathers bad enough to
force me to wear it, then I want to be as covered up as possible. I've
just ordered a Berghaus Paclite Trek for £136 (inc. 15% Field and Trek
discount code - see earlier post)

Generally you can get either a windproof & breathable layer (aka soft
shell) or a waterproof layer (aka hard shell) but not an effective
combination. The exception is the Paramo Directional Waterproof range
including the award winning Alta II

For windproof and breathable I use a Montane Featherlite Smock £36.
The Aeros even cheaper and lighter at £22.

Just received it and it measures 79cm from the collar to the top of my
thighs, so I guess it wouldn't be long enough for him.
