  1. I found some Kettlebells online recently and was hoping an experienced
Kettlebell user could comment on their shape. The shape is a little
different than others I've seen, but they are significantly less
expensive so I was thinking about getting them. Would the shape
    present any problems?

    A 15 pound cardiobell from maxkettlebells.com is $60 without S&H.
Your ebay one is $40 + 15 S&H I have no experience with using one
    with that shape.

Yes, the shape would present a problem for many of the most popular
"moves" with a kettlebell. Put simply, you can do swings with anything
with a handle, these kb's included, but when you go for reps on moves
that involve the kb flipping over and landing on the back of your arm, I
haven't found anything as good as a round one. There are also several
models of kettlebell handle you can buy; some people don't mind the
weight stack hitting them in the back of the arm but, so far, I haven't
found a way to do it for reps comfortably.

I haven't bought any yet but I plan on trying out the kettlebell thing
with a set from these guys
    http://www.uskettlebells.com/
for the price you seem to get more "bang for your buck" what with the
    configurable weights.

Thanks, I didn't know about this site. Based on Steve's comments below
    I'll probably go with these.

Yeah, I've seen this site. These look good. I was thinking about
getting these for myself. The lightest adjustment appears to be 35lb,
so I'll still need to buy some 15lb kettlebells for my son.

My concern with the US kb is that the handle is completely flat across
the top. I tend to slide towards the edges on high-rep stuff and I'm
not sure how this would work out for me.

DD has an 8 kg (18 lbs.) and a 4 kg (9 lbs.) If you give me some idea
as to your son's age and height, I can tell you if the 18 lb will likely
be OK. The 26 lb. DD kb is much more "real" in that it's almost like
the 35 lb. but with a slightly thinner but still thick handle. It's the
smallest size I recommend for anyone except under unusual circumstances,
e.g., my son was using the 26 lb. when he was just 9 or 10 years old.

Since I've already tried a couple of the DD alternatives, maybe I'll get
one of these two and post here, but not likely any time real soon.
