http://sport.guardian.co.uk/breakingnews/feedstory/0,,-5978824,00.htmlLeMond has perfectly positioned his outsized ego to proclaim, "See, I
am the cleanest and fairest of them all." From his quoted statements
he seems a little too eager to see Floyd guilty. It's not for the good
of cycling, as LeMond states; rather, it's for the good of his own
self-image. -

i am 39 years old and have competed in cycling in which my peak
developing years were in awe and admiration for lemond. he was the
reason i started racing was because of him. initially, i thought he was
the victim of unfair european tradition and rules but after his oln one
hour special, my opinion is that...he is still a total [censored]!
but yeah, i agree, he did win three tours without any drug suspicion.

It's not just Greg's ego... it's his bitterness at being outdone by another
American. In his effort to triangulate, and put himself above the fray, he has
made himself look like a complete jerk-off.
Long live Lance whose entire life thus far has been about athleticism. -

That's because they'd all agreed to not suspect drugs. That's how it was done.

LA might be a [censored], but at least he has enough respect to not comment
until Floyd is *proven* guilty.
Lemond runs his mouth right away, figuring the witch hunt cannot be
wrong. What a tool. I have such little respect for this donkey dork. I
hope he has to put his dork in his mouth.Callistus Valerius said:

God forbid that somebody should convert their passion into money. That would
taint the entire scenario and make it absolutely worthless. We should all do
what we hate, be miserable, mediocre, and broke.Long live the very wealthy Lance!!!

If Lemond was clean, how'd he get those guns cross country skiing? I
knew of a guy taking testosterone who did some skiing in the winter and
he got huge. They all doped at some level. The problem with Floyd's
case is that testosterone cannot explain his amazing ride. It just
doesn't work that way. I agree, though, Lemond should have rephrased
his statements because he's already decided Floyd is guilty, period,
and making excuses for why he doped. He's not republican is he?CH

No... I believe Lemond is a Democrat. He stabs those who represent his country
in the back almost immediately. He supports the French unequivically. He tries
to make us believe he's for the little guy, but he is really only for himself.
My suspicion is that he probably doped, but I will never have proof so, I
shouldn't even make an allegation. But then, the Dem Clinton never had sex with
that woman. Oops a little stain on the blue dress proved otherwise. What's a
little lie here and there?Weapons of mass destruction??? In Syria.. Probably being used on Israel right
now by that poor maligned misunderstood group Hezbollah. Oh man! I just
journeyed into politics in a bike group. I have to admit that was truly idiotic
of me. -

Don't assume that just because he had large thighs (for a road cyclist)
that he must have cheated. Some people are just genetically
predisposed to development of certain muscles.Take me for example, I haven't lifted weights in over 20 years. But,
at peak condition these days I sport around 26-27 inch thighs. I can
walk past a gym and my thighs will grow. Normal trackies, (not
sprinters or kilo specialists), look at me and think, 'damn, you're
big'. Yet, I haven't got a fast twitch muscle in my entire body and
can barely sprint fast enough to get out of my own way.If having big legs is indicative of doping, I'm looking at a lifetime
ban with no chance at appeal.Scott

I didn't realize we were talking about bodybuilding, so I didn't think
it was required that I use the definition of "guns" as per bodybuilding
lingo. If someone's saying Lemond had large arms that he couldn't have
developed by cross country skiing, then they REALLY need to reassess
what constitutes large arms. I've met Lemond (back when he was
competing) and he couldn't win an arm wrestling contest with a nun.Scott

Scott,
This was not meant as a criticism. Unfortunately, on message boards,
most written comments seem to be taken as such.I too have met LeMond, and also a "Mr. Universe" of the 1970's Danny
Padilla. I don't think you would confuse the two, but in photos, the
proportions make size hard to judge. I remember the photo of LeMond
after his winter skiing, and his arms did look disproportionately
bigger. Hence the mistaken impression by some that he was very
muscular. And then, of course, he must be on drugs, etc., etc. I think if people
actually stood next to a real user of steroids like Dianabol, they
would realize the staggering difference, LOL.When I met Thierry Claveyrolat at the Tour DuPont, I though he was a 10
year old kid.Another Scott (same first name)

Michael Pressrecall pedro delgado, 1988 winner, was questioned why they discovered
probencid in a test. though not banned at the time, probencid is a
gout medication. did delgado have gout?probencid is a renal blocking agent that prevents the excretion of
compounds and other metabolites such as anabolic steroids. -

information if prrobencid was banned in 1988 or not. if it was,
delgado made off with the biggest positive drug testing tour victory
that i know of!i also recall that Joop Zoetemelk was questioned for his 1980 tour win
(after coming in second a gazillion times) about unusually high
testosterone levels. he denied drug use and said that he could regulate
his testosterone levels naturally. well, this isnt 2006 and i am going
to guess that they didnt have the sophisication of the endocrinologist
they do now...so the tour backed down and let him keep his victory.thus, i know of two questionable tour victories in my adolescent/adult
life. i am just going to guess there must have been more in the many,
many years past.
