No [censored]. Show me something from Levi's TdF time trial win last year and it will matter.

He was riding for Bruyneel's team. Enough said.

  2. I checked with the USCF. They don't know who won in 1996. So, I am claiming the title.

That title will look good on your Palmares. You must have been doping then. Riding clean now is obviously a lot tougher for you... :p

I think most of the old timers on this board, knew about this. It is reasonably common knowledge among the informed cycling posters here.

It woud be nice if one of these informed posters could come forward and say that Leipheimer did test positive. He tested positive for XXXX. He was stripped of the title. He was given a six month suspension.

All I have ever heard is the occasional rumor and hints about it, but when pressed, no one has any solid facts.

Kind of like the situation with Lance. But that doesn't stop people from pressing the issue.

The difference is that everyone knows Armstrong tested positive for EPO six times. The details about Leipheimer are a little fuzzy.

    Let Levi Dope!!!

  9. I know i'm going to get gunned down here but in all seriousness: Levi is actually quite a good time triallist before his '06 victory. Not amazing, but he'd placed quite highly in a good few contests against the clock. 2007, he changed his time trial position, much better than it was in previous years. And his results in time trials throughout the year were consistently better.

Probably still doping though, just that half of it was the new position, the other half Disco's superior doping program.

yeah, he showed he could tt at the 2001 Vuelta, and the worlds after it.

Off memory, two 3rd's or perhaps two seconds in the tts at the vuelta. I think that year there were an unprecedented 4tts. Prologue, mtn, and two medium-longs.

He then finished either 3rd or 4th in the worlds.

He has always been strong at the dauphine over about 10kms. And then the long Dauphine tt.

    The guy can tt.

The thing is, can he tt so well because of his o2 capacity that is artificially inflated.

Second question, can he tt better than others on dope, because he has a more comprehensive and expert program, and gets better o2 vector delivery.

    hmmm, moot speculation.

the guy can tt. NEver shown it in the Tour tho.

In his defense, Armstrong, Ullrich, et all, were always in the Tour. Take out Vino, got a clean Millar, CSC no longer using recovery products... take Basso, take Landis.

Not unsurprising he won the last tt.

But is he better than TT-specialists? OK, Wiggins wasn't there for the last TT, but still...

Six times? Wow, what a sloppy doper he was in the early days. He sure improved his cover-up ability by testing negative 150 times.

Or had connections to cover-up the positives 150 times. 🙄

    well, best
Wiggins has done is 5th in the Worlds, Leipheimer has either a 3rd or 4th in 2001.

Funny how he performs best when he is with Bruyneel.

Once is all it takes. 😄

He got caught taking something that wasn't detectable at the time. I wonder what we'd find if the new HGH test was used on old samples.

I haven't followed pro-cycling long enough and you're much more knowledgeable. But what do you think about his last Tour TT? Is it possible for him to have given that performance without being doped? Or were there other riders who you would have expected to have performed better than him?

Just think if they had a reliable test for autologous blood tranfusions.

nope, Leipheimer is the best performed GC rider out of the current crop of riders, narrowly shading Menchov and Savoldelli and Simoni. The number of wins. Others had more pretigious wins it must be said.

I thought Evans was the better tter, but not surprising. Karpets was third I think, good timetrialler, but not considered a champion in the discipline.

day 20, anything can play in a GT, especially the Tour.

No one knows what recovery dope they get, so why speculate, qualifier, in Bruyneel's team's case, we know with the Spanish doctors and internet conversations, they get blood deliveries.

Seriously, a blood delivery could be the difference between outside the top 10 and the podium, or the win and the top 10.

Considering that those three riders each have two GT victories and Leipheimer has zero, I am skeptical. Being the one guy who targets small stage races because he cannot win the big ones does not a great GC man make. 🙂
