Every time I say to myself - "They can't possibly find another thing in
which to put LED's", they find another thing in which to put LED's.
Personally, I would like to see a helmet just lined with 'em - you'll look
like one of those huge semi's all decked out in running lights.

Not a bad idea. Maybe a billboard with a mesage scrolling across??? At
interbike this guy was selling a lighting system for your wheel that could
be programmed to spell out words as you rode along.

Trek put these on some of their comfort and hybrid bikes this year.
Too bad the bodies are still plastic, so there goes the longevity of the
pedals.

I put at pair of these on my winter bike: I ride 8 miles in the dark every
night and soon it will be dark when I ride in the morning as well. I have
noticed I get more street respect from passing as weel as approaching car
drivers, so I think the jumping and flashing LED's improve my safety. But
I am glad my identity is concealed by the dark, because I do feel rediculous
with these fancy "toy pedals".

Alternately you can add reflective leg bands which are visible rom 360 degrees.
