It is always heartwarming to come across a couple so obviously intended for one another. Sigh...
Suppose you had your Significant Other out for the evening and you happen to pass two figures fighting in the gutter, rolling in the beer and cigarette butts. You draw back distastfully, guide your date around them and continue, with a muttered, "What the lower classes will do..."
Another observer might note that one contestant was simply going about his business in a cheerful and helpful way when he was attacked by a thug. He is simply defending himself, trying to break off the engagement, as the less observant walk by with a superior attitude.
After being contradicted, with no further explanation forthcoming from my 'assailant', I reviewed my statement for accuracy and said, "It *is* dark at 5pm". A thoughtful reader might realize that I am inviting the assailant to produce some explanation for his attack, or ask some clarifying questions, (where do you live, this is where I live, etc) or act in a responsible fashion finally. I cannot control how this fella will answer my posts, his posts are revealing only of his character.
Some readers might incorrectly conclude that I was calling you a dumb prig who lived an alternate lifestyle and took dates to slum areas. This would be unfortunate as I was only using an analogy to make my point.
When on airport ramp outside Jackson Hole in C-O-L-D winter weather, I took to wearing a rectangular red lensed device with five LEDs flashing while wanding jets in to parking slot on ramp. Got many kudos from pilots for easy to see LEDs leading them to my wands.

Yes, unfortunately some people often make inferences about your capacity for verbal expression and even your personality in general from such short passages.
