Having looked over the last group of topics - mostly off topic, it appears that
this message board has strayed way beyond the original reason we're all here -
that is, to share information about low carb lifestyle. There are plenty of
other newsgroups that cover the "off topic" information and subjects that now
appear regularly. So, goodbye all and good luck. I've gained lots of
information and help, but now I feel I must leave.

Try a Yahoo group. The Atkinsmen group stays on topic well.

I skip or filter out the ones I don't care for. Since this is an election year
here in the US, there are a LOT more off-topic posts in virtually EVERY non-
moderated newsgroup. I'm sorry to see you go.--

because there are some non-topic posts mixed in -- that you don't even have
to read -- then you face a serious challenge in real life.Whatever. Best of luck to you, and I wish you continued success with your

Hi,
I've been a user of newsgroups since 1988 back when most of its users were
mainly software Unix engineers. The problem you are complaining
about has been ever since. This group is very powerful and extremely helpful. The only way you can
trim unwanted articles is to moderate it. That will take away flexibility
and
response can take days to appear instead of almost promptly.I would stick around. You cannot change this old bad habbit of idiots like
Harry Hope.Hang around and spread love and help not hate and anger 😉 I hope you do.

What a great way to state that you've given up and will remain fat for life.

This sort of thing goes in cycles. Maybe soon it will be back to more on
topics.Could you set your newreader to show the tree, rather than all the separate
messages? Then you could expand only the topics that look interesting.
That's what I do.If you find any other good forums, let us know.

It's always been my opinion that if you don't like the signal-to-noise ratio
in a group, the way to improve it is to contribute to the signal, rather
than complain about the noise. *shrug* I'm sorry to see you go, but I
think you are making a mistake. I'd recommend ignoring the threads you
don't like, contributing to the ones you do, and starting new discussions.
Much of the off-topic and most incendiary noise will likely die down after
November 2. -
I'm mostly a lurker here and sometimes I post...I've been LCing since
January and lost 53 lbs on SB. This newsgroup has been a source of
tremendous information and quite a bit of laughter for me. I read it first
thing every morning (all 2-300 messages) and will continue to do so.. Thanks
to all of you for making my days brighter..

I hate to say it, but your original post on this topic is OT according to
your criteria below...to "share information about a low carb lifestyle".The political messages coming through are useless and messy, but I
personally don't mind the slightly OT messages posted by real members of the
group. We all run into struggles and triumphs throughout our lives that
have an impact on our WOE, even if the posts aren't completely on-topic with
regard to food or exercise.S t a c i
