Leak in headset

Conventional headsets, whether "integrated" or not, always slowly leak grease, particularly when they are heated by the sun.

My 2c worth: Strip and clean the headset bearings. Re-pack with some more suitable local grease. If in doubt as to grease type, ask Shimano on the 1300 number, those guys are priceless!!

Edit: I agree with the comments below, only if competent.

It probably doesn't need it, unless it's old. Every strip down by someone who isn't familiar with what they are doing increases the risk of a stuff-up.

Thanks very much for all your replies and suggestions. The bike is only 6 months old and was being ridden in the sun for an extened period. In fact, both my bike and the missus' bike leaked grease from the headset at the same time. I presume that since the bikes are so new that they don't need to have the headset serviced and re-greased?

I wouldn't. I've never had a headset run out of grease.
