I'm moving to Chicago this summer and leaving behind a couple of good bike shops in Washington DC. I'd like to find a good local bike shop in Chicago if anyone has any recommendations. I don't like the more corporate places as much as I do the smaller, more community-oriented shops. In DC, my best tip has been go where the messengers go.

Anyone in Chicago with a bit of advice?😕
Well Chicago Has lots of "corporate" bike shops, but if you are looking for where the messengers go... Yojimbo's Garage, it also sponsors a local bike team that originally was mostly bike messengers... good luck and welcome to chicago... www.xxxracing.org
Is Turin up in Evanston worth the trip? When I was growing up around Lincoln Park the Chicago original location on Clark then later on Lincoln Park West *was* THE bike shop of my heart. I hung out there absorbing...endlessly. LOVED that place.

turin is my favorite! But I would think that the best is a shop that is an easy ride from home (or wherever you are alot w/ your bike) ... in the city kozy's is good, johnny sprocket also. Of course, Yojimbo's!

I suppose The Cycle Smithy on Clark is long gone...right?
Hi there and welcome to Chicago. I recommend Kozy's if you are in the City. They have several locations downtown. I have had good experience at their Harrison & LaSalle location. Tim Jones is an excellent sales guy and their mechanics are great too.
