  1. Anybody been up that way recently doing the Munros at the East end of
the Lawers range? I'm thinking of heading up that way on Sunday and was
just wondering what parking was like around Lawers village.

    Thanks

    druidh

  2. There have been ongoing problems with parking in the village for just
about as long as anyone can remember!

I was there in the middle of last year and the situation then was .....

Don't park opposite the horncraft shop. They own the space (small) and
will charge you £5 to use it.

You can park at the Lawers Hotel but it's a trust thing, the owner
expects you to pop in for a pint or a meal.

However, this may well have changed since then. Anyone been there more
    recently?

I thought there was a charge (£2.50 rings a bell), which was
refundable if you went in afterwards? Or has that changed recently?

  4. You may well be right Simon. Now that you mention it, I'm sure i've
been told that by someone else in the past few months!

Dunno, but we were out that way last week and went up from the Glen Lyon
side, which is no problem parking at the free car park marked on Sheet
51 next to the public 'phone box.

Was something in TAC recently, about the sitiuation improving.
Probably best to ask at the hotel.

As for th layby, ownership is disputed, needless to say you will
never catch me shopping in there.

Or you could go via Beinn Ghlas from the visitor centre car park at 608378.

  9. Very limited parking spaces in Lawers Village. Travelling from the west,
there was a space just before the "infamous" shop, but that can just about
get 2 small cars in. There's no parking spaces even a few miles - east or
west - out of the village.

Possibly the next one westward is at Tombreck (652378) I had this marked on
my map as I got this from a Trail magazine route, but never used it as I
went for the visitor centre car park, which turned out to be a good choice
for me as I found a route that took all the munros in and still explored a
    bit of Ben Lawers.
