Landis Hearing Picks

Landis is finished, no question about that.
Fans are fans and no one can convince them in their idol's guilt.
Anti doping agencies will still play in their own interest... If they can capitalize on hiding someones guilt they'll do and contrary.

There will be no split decision because there will be 3 arbitrators. Each side gets to pick one arbitrator each. Those two guys then select the third arbitrator know as the "nuetral." So it really comes down to how the neutral decides. Of course Floyd picked the same nut job that bought Hamilton's lost twin defense. My money is on USADA because the USADA arbitrator and the nuetral have already excluded Floyd's nut case from some deliberations.

I predict a split decision. Landis will play to the crowd, which will be packed with his supporters, but the USADA will hammer him with evidence for which he has no response. Landis will be sanctioned but Landis will throw enough mud that there will always be pukka-like fans who ware unable to accept the facts.

velonews had a good article on this. i am going with the dude they interviewed. i think usada will prove he doped, which he did, but landis will play to his nuthuggers who wouldnt accept a cnn recorded video of fuentes shooting gear up landis eyeball.

no matter the outcome i think some truths will be exposed and it will lead to improved testing procedures.

Have any of you Landis haters actually read any of the documents? Have you SEEN where they scratched out numbers and wrote over them? Have you read how the very tests violated the UCI's rules? Have you read anything other than other hate filled garbage?

I am not saying he is innocent. But when his observers are barred from the lab that is saying something. If I am above board and I have nothing to hide, let the WORLD come in and see. Especially if someone is calling my integrity in to question. I would INVITE people in to look over my shoulder to PROVE that I know what I am doing. What is there to hide?

I don't think he doped. If you go back and read articles on him over the years this is a touch son of a you know what. Perfectly mentally and physically able to do what he did. In truth what he did is not that "super". The peloton did not consider his attack a threat as it was so early. They rested on their proverbial laurels and then it was too late. If they had wanted him early, they would have had him. No question.

1. I was a fan of Landis during 2006 Tour and he was my favorite rider for TDF06 but I don't believe in miracles because after a bad day GC contenders rarely/never have a superb performance and it is unthinkable to get back 5min+ during a one stage to all contenders. Just analyze how did Indurain or Riis lose their titles? Landis must have had a similar dynamics after his failed stage and not to have the best performance of his life.

2. I might believe him if had prepared for this specific stage and didn't take part in all previous stages; or he had 2 or 3 decent stages and some 2 or 3 failures. In TDF he had 2 excellent rides, 1 failure, 1 superior ride - it is not possible. I would pay a respect for him if had accepted his defeat and prepared for TDF'07.

3. I am not sure why did he fail a drug test but if he took a risk before fatal stage because he thought that the next year he will have to fight against OP riders and this is the only real chance and some quick dope is necessary than it proves how narrow-minded Landis is.

4. Lance is my favorite rider from 1999 to 2005 but I consider him the luckiest doper in peleton. I don't want any miracle stories in pro cycling; I don't believe that any miracles can happen in this sport.

5. My vision for cycling? I don't believe there will ever be a clean winner and I want to see lower speeds which could mean that there is more room for talent and less room for sports medicine. Please bring back tours with 35km/h-37km/h averages.

6. All in all, Landis should be stripped of his title.

I used to be a fan of Lance. I used to be a fan of Tyler. I even used to be a big fan of Museeuw (sp?). At this point, though, I cannot believe a clean rider can be competitive in a grand tour. The Landis hearing will be interesting, since it is open to the public, and it will be the first time we really see all the evidence USADA has. In the end, though, I think Landis loses. When it was only the one positive test, I thought he had a chance of beating it. But the six additional B sample positives (not for T/E ratio, but synthetic test.) I think sink him.

He will keep the title due to lack of confirmed evidence, but it will be forever questioned.
He will be finished as a racer.
He will try and salvage enough credibility to remain attached to cycling as to maintain an income.
A compromise decision.

I don't think he will be finished as a racer unless he wants to give up. There will likely be a lot of riders--many of them Spanish--who plead guilty to OP, so it won't be like he is alone. If the ProTour gets slimmed down to sixteen teams, there will be a lot of smaller teams allowed in the Vuelta and Giro. I could see Landis signing for a Spanish Pro Continental team and winning the Vuelta. I don't think he will ever be allowed to race the Tour unless he can come up with a legitimate acquittal.

The changing attitudes of the race organizers and the UCI could do him in, though.

I reckon he'll probably go down.
