Great news (that's a better article than the one I'd read on the
subject prveviously). I've been following the Landis case closely,
and there are SO many holes and discrepancies in the way the lab
handled the samples and did the testing that it's hard to believe any
unbiased ruling would go against Flloyd.

Mark: Best thing to do is put a link on your website to
www.FloydFairnessFund.org, and look for an event in your area to attend
yourself. Costs $35, and the presentation is great. I went to the one held
last Wednesday in San Jose and was very impressed. They do charge $20 for an
autograph, which would normally put me off, but the money definitely goes to
a good cause.

Particularly doping by the Americans, the Spanish, the Italians... and
if necessary to diddle with the tests too. Remember the last little
flare-up over some of Lance's old samples. What happened to that bit

Naaah, if that was their only agenda, the lab wouldn't leak the
results of any questionable results immediately to the French press
(which is quite against all legal protocol, BTW).

I think the testing has been handled poorly. This has politicized the
problem. There is bias at the very top of that organization.
Procedures are not followed. There is an over used back-door to
certain media.

I do not think that Lance was a doper. Not back in 1998 or 1999 and
not since then either. Nor do I think Landis is. There were too many
negative tests in his racing history. The results of his TdF stage
test were so overwhelmingly positive... by orders of magnitude, that I
reject it. The samples were tampered with and the job was botched. I
think they tried to do the same with Lance's earliest samples. And I
think Lance threatened to sue them to hell and back. And since he has
the money and the persistence, they backed down. I notice that the
"facts" and the story disappeared from the radar rather abruptly.

The testing group's management needs to be significantly overhauled
and the staff handling the samples needs to be vetted very carefully.

In Lance's case... I think you need to consider the influence of Trek
Bicycles. They have absolutely zero interest in promoting or funding a
team that cheats. Their program is too large and too expensive to take
those risks.
