What are the white panels on the sides of Lance's (skinsuit-)shorts?
Special cooling material? A radio? GPS system? Good Guys Wear White?

    Don't be silly.

This year, all of the ASO (Tour organizers) provided skinsuits (yellow,
white, green and polka dot) had white panels on the legs. I assume to better
show the sponsors logos that teams are permitted to place. I did see that
the white jersey rider had his sponsor's logos placed there and I don't
    remember if anyone else did.

The race organizers nearly always provide the jerseys and skinsuits for each
of the riders wearing prize jerseys.

That's interesting, because I saw Nike testing a skinsuit on the Lance
Chronicles. Is the Alpe d'Huez skinsuit different than the one in the team
    TT?

Probably needs more venting (more heat, less dissipation on a climb)

  5. They said on OLN as he was warming up on the trainer that it was just
    venting... mesh.

Place for the organisers to laminate the wearers sponsor onto the
    shorts.
